Homework Help BlogTips that A+ students use to get ahead…

I had an interesting chat today with San Kim from ShowMe.com.
They’ve created an iPad app which lets people record their own lessons (think KhanAcademy but with thousands of Khans). They’ve started to build up a library of content from teachers around the world.
Education seems to be moving more and more online, and tools like this will make it easier than ever for people to create lessons. If you have an interest in recording some of your lessons so that multiple people can benefit from them, give it a try.
The iPad is versatile enough that it’s opening up all sorts of new applications that previously would have required a dedicated piece of hardware. Maybe even one-on-one tutoring will move to the iPad in the near future.
What do you think?

09|Mar|2012 3Although I generally find myself loving old-school chalkboards, books, and materials, the possibilities of technology in education thrill me. I often deal with students who are several grade levels behind and who struggle to fit into that old-school world I love. Yet, when you see these kids taking breaks online with math or reading games, they teach themselves because they want to.
Anytime a student pursuits more knowledge out of their own curiosity, we are on the right path!
Think about the increase of universal accessibility to this giant library of information we all live on (the internet). Offering children the opportunity to use devices like iPads increases their own personal and physical interaction with the materials (however flat and screen-like they are) and gives them the control over their education.
The possibilities are endless! I wish I could find a way to get iPads for all of my students because they are left behind without a computer in the home. This could change everything.
